The movie that i am going to recommend in this blog is Contagion that came out in 2011 which is somehow similar in what is really happening in China right now.
On December 2019, a few cases of viral pneumonia was found in WuHan, the virus is type of novel coronavirus, people who got infected could show symptoms like difficult in breathing, coughing and fever. In the worst scenario, it could lead to kidney failure, severe acute respiratory syndromes and even death. After the outbreak of the virus followed, and the virus was named as 2019-nVoC by the World Health Organization. Various measures have been applied, the whole city of Wuhan is under quarantine till this day, in order to help as many patients as possible, new hospital was build within ten days which called Huoshenshan hospital.
The movie has two storylines, the first one focuses on the transmission of virus and measures of controlling the outbreak and the other one focus on the changes that the virus bring to the human societies. The film started with Beth( Gwyneth Paltrow) came back from a business trip and what is noticeable is that she was coughing. However, few days after her son and her all died and his husband Mitch (Matt Damon) is under quarantine. At the meantime, the virus is widely spread all over the world. Then, they began to investigate on the virus and found that, the virus refers the transmissions from surfaces, and they found that certain sequences of the virus are similar to what is found on pig and bat. Within the movie, its showed some dark side of human. Under such circumstances, there still are people making conspiracy theories and brewing rumors. But the movie also portrayed people like medics and their bravery. The film showed the contradiction on whether the government should be transparent to the public about the extent of the disaster. Being transparent could cause chaos to happen but by contrast if people are not aware of the situation it could be worse for their own sakes.
By far, the number is till increasing, more and more people are being infected by the virus. And i want to give to the medics who are on the frontline my highest respect, and hoping the contagion could be controlled soon.
