Today i am going to introduce a movie that is focus on train which is The Cassandra Crossing, the movie was released in 1976 in Italy and the Cold War was not yet over.
The story is about three terrorist who are from Sweden want to bomb the world health organization’s experimental center in Geneva. One of the terrorist was shot dead and one was caught, the other escaped on a train bound for Sweden and was being affected by pneumonic plague. In order to make sure the virus does not spread, officials ordered to block the whole train and diverted to the Cassandra Crossing to fake a rollover accidents to cover up the truth. In the train, the terrorist who was infected and had contact with passengers, he died in the luggage room while other passengers started to develop symptoms. Doctors had found ways to control the virus but the officials refuse to stop the train. In this case, passengers had to save themselves, they fought and eventually only part of the passengers had survived.
In this movie everyone fought for a chance of survival, they eliminated the religious opposition and cultural divide as well as the gap between rich and poor, and united together for the control of the train. The movie displayed the dauntless and humanitarian spirit when people were facing the virus. By contrast, when the conflict of saving people and keep secrete happen, there are still people choose to sacrifice innocent people, the defenseless people are always the one who are wounded and the more innocent that they are sometimes the more blood that they shed.
I pray that the virus could be controlled soon and less people dying, and the speeding train we feared was not bound for the Cassandra Crossing, which was bound to collapse.
