During the eight years of Japan ’s war of aggression against China, 200,000 Chinese women were forced to become sexual slaves of the Japanese army. At the beginning of the film “Twenty-two”, there were only 22 “comfort women” survivors in mainland China.
Wang Zhifeng (1928-) 89 years old from Hainan. Wang Zhifeng’s eyes narrowed when he smiled, and you could still see her beauty when she was young. The younger son asked her more than once: Dad’s condition is so bad, why did you marry to him? She said: The women who have been ruined was looked down upon. At the age of 16, she went out to pound rice, encountered Japanese soldiers, and then was arrested in a comfort station, dug trenches during the day, and worked as a comfort woman at night. After being abused and beaten, she soon became ill and ulcerated. Her father and brothers gathered money to redeem her. From 1939 to 1945, during the six years of occupation of Hainan Island, the Japanese army set up more than 70 comfort homes. There were thousands of comfort women. Most of them died of illness, committed suicide, and were killed. At the end of the war, there were less than 100 people. Wang Zhifeng is one of the survivors. Because of the disaster, she still has a white scar that is more than ten centimeters long and two fingers wide on her fibula on her right leg, which often hurts at night.
Wang Zhifeng is one of the Twenty two, and now the number had down to 8. I have been educated since i was very little to remember history and never forget the national shame. They are the victim of the war, perhaps by the time they all pass they might not get the justice they want. But their traces will never be erased and they will always be remembered.
